Mom: “Can you believe you’ve been married for a year?”
Chrystal: “I know, it doesn’t really feel like it.”
Me: “Feels like more than a year.”
Everyone focuses on me. My wife, Chrystal, hits me.
Me: “It’s just that so much has happened and changed since then.”
Dad: “Yeah, well that’s life.”
He’s smug and satisfied in his oldmanness.
Me: “Yeah, well can you do this?”
I make “OK” signs with my hands, then flip them and press them to my face, making a superhero mask of sorts. My wife, and then my sister follow suit.
My dad cannot make a mask with his hands. Take that, growing up!
